9/26/21 NFL DOLPHINS VS RAIDERS

MIAMI @ LAS VEGAS (LV -3.5, 44) - LOSS

Derek Carr will start for the Raiders. Tua Tagovailoa will not for Miami. Carr tweaked an ankle, but an MRI revealed nothing substantial and he practiced Wednesday and Thursday. Tagovailoa suffered broken ribs and was ruled out for Sunday.

That means Miami will start Jacoby Brissett in Tagovailoa’s place. Brissett was horrible in relief of Tua last week. He wound up 24-of-40 for 169 yards and a pick. Oh yeah, the Dolphins didn’t score a point and were shut out 35-0 by Buffalo.
Carr and the Raiders have been putting up some ridiculous numbers on offense. Carr leads the NFL with 817 passing yards. Las Vegas is averaging 29.5 points per game after putting up 26 last week on a pretty good Pittsburgh defense. Carr had 382 passing yards against the Steelers.
Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is questionable as is G Richie Incognito. Both are expected to play, which is a boost for the Raiders offense. The Dolphins have only scored 17 points this season. With Brissett at quarterback, don’t expect Miami to instantly find the magic in their offense.
Surprisingly, Miami has actually won seven of the last eight against the Raiders. They were able to win last year on a last second field goal by Jason Sanders. Not only has Miami beaten the Raiders recently, they are also 5-1-1 ATS in those seven games.
It should be noted that the home team in this matchup is 4-1-1 ATS. Also, it would pay to know that the Dolphins are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a double-digit home loss. The Raiders have played well at home at Allegiant Stadium, the site of Sunday’s game.
The Raiders are also 5-1 ATS in their last six games played in September. Playing at home at Allegiant is conducive to the Raiders passing game, which is thriving this season. Each of the last five Raiders home games have seen the total go Over.
What that means is the Raiders can score and they can score big at home. With Tagovailoa out of the lineup, there just isn’t any way the Dolphins can keep up. Back the Raiders laying the 3.5. Buy the half point down to 3
