9/19/21 GAME OF THE WEEK BILLS VS DOLPHINS
BILLS vs. DOLPHINS 9/19/21
The Buffalo Bills were one of those nine favorites that were upset in Week 1. Pittsburgh went into Buffalo and held Bills QB Josh Allen to just 30-of-51 passing for 270 yards. The Steeler sacked Allen three times and forced him to turn the ball over on a fumble.
Miami will likely try and take a page from the Pittsburgh defensive playbook as they host the Bills on Sunday. The Dolphins defense is really what helped them get a win over the Patriots in their Week 1 game. Miami produced just 259 yards of total offense last week. A Xavien Howard forced fumble killed a late New England drive and allowed Miami to escape with a 17-16 victory in Week 1.
As much hype as the Buffalo offense gets, it really hasn’t been all that overpowering in its most recent games. Going back to the postseason last year, the Bills have scored 17, 27, and 16 points in their last three games.
Miami’s defense is a solid unit led by Howard, who led the NFL in interceptions last year with 10. Last year, the Dolphins defense didn’t do so well against Buffalo allowing 86 points in two games, but head coach Brian Flores and his unit are improved over last season.
Buffalo has won the last five in a row against Miami, but remember the improvement of the Dolphins defense. Miami is 6-0 ATS in their last six games at home and 10-3 ATS overall in their last 13.
We’re not looking for the cover though. We’re looking at the game total. It opened at 48.5 and has dropped a full point already. The Under is 2-1 in Buffalo’s last three games and 5-3 in Miami’s last eight. Sunday’s game should be a close, low-scoring division game.
The Under is 4-1 in Miami’s last five AFC East Division games. Add another one to that as this game goes Under the posted total.
